I am so glad you have made meditation a part of your daily routine. I first tried in college and failed miserably. A few years ago, thanks to several wonderful yoga instructors, I finally learned how to meditate. I still have a long way to go, but it is truly amazing how powerful an effect meditation can have on our minds and bodies.

Thank you Lisa. Meditation/mindfulness/focused breathing/yoga and anything that breaks the train of everyday thoughts can be extremely beneficial down to the cellular level. Research pioneered by Herbert Benson at Harvard's mind body institute have shown health benefits ranging from helping with glycemic control, blood pressure regulation, anxiety/depression, chronic pain, etc... Even fertility. Telomeres were found to be longer in folks practicing daily meditation. This is the state in which our body heals itself. I often share a couple of (free) apps with my patients in the hospital when I think they would benefit from even short "mini" meditations. One is called "Calm", the other is called "Stop.Think.Breathe" that will customize the mini meditation to how your are feeling mentally, physically & emotionally.
